Ingredients:
5 cups peeled, cored, and sliced cooking apples |
5 cups soft breadcrumbs, divided |
1 3/4 cups sugar |
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
1/2 cup butter or margarine, divided |
1/2 cup water, divided |
whipping cream |
Directions:
1. Arrange half of apples in a lightly greased 12- x 8- x 2-inch baking dish. Sprinkle with half of breadcrumbs. Combine sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle half of sugar mixture over bread crumbs. Dot with half of butter, and sprinkle with half of water. Repeat layers. 2. Bake at 400° for 45 minutes or until apples are tender. Spoon into individual serving bowls, and serve warm with whipping cream. |
