APPLE BEIGNETS This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Estes Estate in Dallas, Texas in 1984. Ingredients:
1 cup flour |
1/8 teaspoon salt |
1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder |
1 egg |
2/3 cup beer at room temperature |
2 pippin apples |
oil for deep frying |
sugar and cinnamon |
powdered sugar |
Directions:
1. Peel and core apples then slice 1/4 thick and sprinkle each layer with cinnamon and sugar. 2. Mix flour, salt and baking powder. 3. Beat egg into beer then stir in flour mixture. 4. Dip apple slices in batter then fry in deep fat until lightly browned. 5. Drain in brown paper bag then place on paper towel lined plate or plate. 6. Sift powdered sugar over each layer or drip in cinnamon and sugar mixture to coat. |
