we love this stew. so good inthe fall esp. smells great. Ingredients:
2 lbs chuck roast, cut in 1 in cubes |
2 t butter |
2 onions, cut in wedges |
2 t flour |
1/4 t salt |
2 c water |
2 t apple juice |
2 bay leaves |
2 whole allspice |
2 whole cloves |
2 med carrots sliced |
2 med apples, peeled and cut in chunks |
Directions:
1. brown beef in butter 2. add onions, cook till soft 3. sprinkle with flour and salt 4. gadually add water and apple juice 5. bring to boil, stir for about 2 min 6. put spices in 2 thickness of cheesecloth , tie with string to form a bag. add to pan. cover 7. reduce heat. simmer slowly for about 1 1/2 hrs till met is almost done. 8. add carots and apples. cover 9. simmer again till veggies are done....30- 40 mi 10. thicken if needed |
