APPLE AND NUT CAKE This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Almond Estate in Grand Prairie, Texas in 1992. Ingredients:
3 sticks butter |
2 eggs |
1 cup evaporated milk |
2 cups flour |
1-1/2 cups granulated sugar |
2 teaspoons baking powder |
5 large apples |
1 cup chopped nuts |
1 cup granulated sugar |
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon |
Directions:
1. Melt butter and let it cool completely then beat butter with eggs and evaporated milk. 2. Add flour, 1-1/2 cups sugar and baking powder then continue to beat until fully incorporated. 3. Grease and flour a tube pan then put peeled and sliced apples on the bottom. 4. Combine nuts, 1 cup sugar and cinnamon and put half of this mixture over the apples. 5. Put batter on top of this mixture and top with remaining nut mixture. 6. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes then cool 15 minutes and serve warm. |
