Apple and Gruyère Cheese Crostini |

This is a very simple yet elegant recipe that I learned in a cooking class that I took. It is very quick and very simple and serves as a great hor d'oeuvre. Ingredients:
1 french baguette |
1 apple |
lemon juice |
8 ounces gruyere cheese, shredded |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to Broil. 2. Slice the baguette on a bias into very thin slices and lay out on a cooking sheet. 3. Slice the apple into very thin slivers and place into a bowl with a few drops of lemon juice to prevent oxidation. 4. Place 3-4 slivers of apple on each slice of bread. 5. Sprinkle liberally with gruyère cheese and broil until cheese is melted and bubbling. 6. Serve warm as an hors d'oeuvre. |
