This is a recipe I obtained from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Crawford Estate in Quinlan, Texas in 1982. Another tried and true recipe that we can't get enough of. Read more . I make these often, they are incredible. Ingredients:
2 cups flour |
4 teaspoons baking powder |
1 tablespoon sugar |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 egg beaten |
1 cup milk |
2 tablespoons melted shortening |
10 tablespoons sweetened applesauce |
3 strips uncooked bacon finely chopped |
Directions:
1. Sift together dry ingredients then add egg, milk and melted shortening and mix together quickly. 2. Put spoonful of batter in muffin pan. 3. Place 1 tablespoon applesauce on top of mixture in muffin pan. 4. Cover with another spoonful of batter. 5. Sprinkle top with chopped bacon then bake 25 minutes at 400. |
