Appetizer Turkey Meatballs Mexican Style |

This is a basic recipe that you can jazz up...and make as hot and spicy as you like... the recipe makes about 36 little meat balls..this is a Favorite recipe from the National Turkey Federation.. Ingredients:
1 pound ground turkey ( or chicken ) |
1/4 cup finely chopped onion |
1/4 cup dry bread crumbs |
1 egg, beaten |
2 cloves garlic |
1 teasp. chili powder.... or to taste |
1/2 teasp. ground cumin |
4 ounces tortilla chips, finely crushed |
nonstick cooking spray |
3/4 cup regular or nonfat sour cream |
1/2 cup salsa, your choice of heat |
Directions:
1. In a medium bowl, combine turkey, onion, bread crumbs, egg, garlic, chili powder, and cumin. mix well 2. shape into approximately 3/4-inch meatballs... about 36 3. place crushed chips on a plate. 4. roll each meatball in chips coating thoroughly 5. on a 15 x 10-inch baking pan lightly coat with cooking spray and arrange the meatballs 6. bake at 350' F for 20 minutes or until the meat is no longer pink in the center 7. in small bowl, combine sour cream and the salsa. 8. serve as a dip for the meatballs |
