Something different for a stuffing recipe. Ingredients:
1 cup macadamia nits |
1 cup pistachio nuts |
1 cup walnuts |
1 cup slivered almonds |
1 pound spicy pork sausage |
1/2 cup unsalted butter |
2 cups chopped yellow onion |
1 1/2 cups thinly sliced celery |
1 1/2 cups peeled, diced carrots |
2 tablespoons finely chopped garlic |
1 (16 oz) packages dry bread stuffing mix |
1 1/2 tablespoons dried sage |
salt and pepper to taste |
5 cups chicken stock |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees 2. Butter a large baking dish 3. Spread nuts in a single layer on a baking sheet, and bake 5 to 10 minutes, stirring often, until lightly toasted 4. Place sausage in a large skillet over medium heat, and cook until evenly brown 5. Drain and set aside 6. In the same skillet, melt butter and cook the onion,celery, carrots and garlic until tender 7. In a large bowl toss together the dry stuffing mix, roasted nuts, sausage and vegies 8. Season with sage, salt and pepper 9. Mix in 3 cups chicken stock 10. Gradually add more chicken stock as needed to make the mixture evenly moist 11. Transfer to prepared baking dish Bake for 25 minutes until crisp and golden brown 12.
