Ingredients:
1-2 pound(s) ground beef browned |
1-2 pound(s) bacon cooked and crumbled |
3 can(s) diced tomatoes 15oz cans |
2 can(s) tomato sauce 15oz cans |
1 can(s) tomato paste 6oz can |
3 clove(s) garlic minced |
12 hot peppers, assorted diced |
1 cup(s) fresh cilantro(optional) finely chopped |
1 medium onion diced |
2 tablespoon(s) chili powder |
1 tablespoon(s) cayenne |
2 teaspoon(s) salt |
2 teaspoon(s) crushed red pepper |
1 bay leaf |
3 can(s) pinto beans 15 oz |
Directions:
1. Cut bacon into 1/4 pieces. Cook in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp. Remove bacon and reserve drippings. Add ground beef (or turkey) and brown. Drain. Stir in garlic, onion, peppers, cilantro(optional), and spices. Simmer on low heat 15 minutes. Empty canned tomato products into large pot. Add all but 1/2 cup of skillet contents. Cover and simmer. Add beans to the skillet with the reserved 1/2 cup of meat mixture. Simmer on low, 15 minutes, stirring often. 2. From here you can: 3. ). Add beans to the pot of chili and simmer on low for 1-2 hours OR 4. ). Transfer to a slow cooker and cook on low for 6-10 hours OR 5. ). Transfer beans and chili into seperate slow cookers and cook chili on low 6-10 hours, beans on low 3-4 hours. |
