Angelus Marshmallow Caramel Sauce

once again, this is from a vintage recipe brochure..not sure of exact measurements..
Ingredients:
20 large marshmallows
1 1/2 cups brown sugar, packed
1 1/4 cups boiling water
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
Directions:
1. Mix sugar and water and boil slowly for 20 minutes.
2. remove from fire and drop in the marshmallows.
3. let stand for 5 minutes.then beat until smooth.
4. serve hot or cold as a pudding or ice cream sauce.
