A yeast roll that is actually fast to make. Ingredients:
1 (1/4 ounce) package quick-rise dry yeast or 2 1/2 teaspoons fast rising yeast |
1/4 cup warm water (105* to 115*f) |
2 1/2-3 cups flour |
2 tablespoons sugar |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1 teaspoon salt |
1/2 cup vegetable oil |
1 cup buttermilk |
butter, to brush tops after baking (optional) |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350*F. 2. Dissolve yeast in warm water in a bowl; let stand 5 minutes. 3. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt in large bowl; make a well in center of mixture. 4. Combine oil, buttermilk and yeast mixture; add to dry ingredients, stirring just until moistened. (Dough will be sticky.). 5. Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface; cut with a 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter. 6. Place rolls on an ungreased baking sheet. 7. Bake for 16 minutes or until golden brown. |
