Mom and Dad Ingredients:
1 lb turkey sausage, grilled, cut in half lengthwise, and sliced. |
4 cups potatoes, cubed (do not peel) |
1 1/2 cups carrots, coarsely chopped |
1 cup celery, coarsely chopped |
1/2 cup string beans |
1 bell pepper, red yellow or green, coarsely chopped |
1 cup sweet peas |
1 large onion, peeled and coarsely chopped |
10 ounce spinach |
6 cups water |
1/4 cup butter |
1 1/2 teaspoons salt |
1 teaspoon black pepper |
1 1/2 teaspoons dried sage |
1 tablespoon dried basil |
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley |
Directions:
1. Place vegetables in a Dutch oven. 2. Add water; bring to a boil. 3. Add butter, salt, pepper and herbs. 4. Simmer until vegetables are tender, about 30 minutes. Serves 10. I listed serving size as 21 because this gives the correct nutritional facts and values. Can be vegetarian if you leave out the sausage. 5. Remember to grill the sausage before adding it! it really adds incredible flavor! |
