Angel Hair With Spicy Shrimp

This recipe reminds me of a dish a friend of mine made for me while I was studying abroad in Italy. This version is out of REALSIMPLE's Oct. 2008 issue but my version leaves out the white wine.
Ingredients:
3/4 lb angel hair pasta
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 garlic cloves, chopped
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 lb frozen peeled and deveined medium shrimp, thawed
2 tablespoons butter
3/4 cup dry white wine
kosher salt
Directions:
1. Cook the pasta, drain, and return to pot. Meanwhile, heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and red pepper; cook, stirring, for 1 minute. I strain the garlic and red pepper out after this portion because I only use those ingredients for flavor and do not like them included in the actual dish.
2. Add shrimp and simmer until shrimp are opaque (If you use all ingedients, also add the wine and salt at this point), 2 to 3 minutes. Stir in the butter until melted. Toss with the shrimp mixture.
