1 pre-made angel food cake loaf (10.5 oz), available at most grocery stores |
8 oz cream cheese, at room temperature |
1/4 cup sugar |
1/4 cup heavy cream |
1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract |
3/4 cup strong coffee, at room temperature |
1-2 t coffee liquer (optional) |
1 milk chocolate bar, grated (1.55 oz) |
for garnish: 1/2 pint fresh strawberries, sliced |
Directions:
1. Line a loaf pan (4 1/2 x 8 1/2 ) with a sheet of plastic wrap (about 24 long) 2. Beat cream cheese, sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla together until smooth 3. Combine coffee and liquer 4. Slice cake horizontally into 4 layers using a serrated knife 5. Brush coffee mixture over both sides of each cake layer 6. Place one layer in the bottom of the loaf pan and spread evenly with 1/3 cup of the cream cheese mixture 7. Sprinkle with 1/4 of the grated chocolate 8. Repeat procedure with remaining layers 9. Reserve 1/2 cup cream cheese mixture and 1/4 of the chocolate for top 10. Fold plastic wrap over the top and gently press to make cake level; chill for 30 minutes 11. Unwrap the top of the cake and invert onto a plate; remove plastic wrap 12. Spread reserved cream cheese mixture over the top and sprinkle with remaining grated chocolate 13. Garnish with sliced strawberries |
