Any easy to make frozen dessert that tastes great and if you use low fat ice cream it is very easy on the calories. Ingredients:
1 8 angel food cake |
1/2gal vanilla ice cream, slightly softened |
2qt fresh strawberries |
sugar or sugar substitude |
optional garnish: butterscotch topping, toasted almond slivers. |
Directions:
1. Cut the cake in half; tear one half into small pieces and set aside. 2. Cut the other half into 12-14 thin slices; arrange in the bottom of a 13 x9 pan, overlapping as needed. Spread softened ice cream over cake, pressing down to smooth. Gently press the cake pieces into the ice cream. Cover and freeze. 3. Just before serving, slice strawberries and sweeten to tasteor if you wish drizzle with topping and sprinkle with almonds. 4. Cut dessert into squares and serve with strawberries. |
