This is great with mashed potatoes or and a sandwich the next day. Ingredients:
1 1/2 lbs ground beef |
5 slices thick cut bacon |
3 celery ribs, chopped |
1 large onion, minced |
1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce |
5 large button mushrooms, minced |
2 teaspoons kosher salt |
1 cup ketchup |
1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (whichever kind is your favorite) |
1 egg |
3/4 cup breadcrumbs |
Directions:
1. Chop bacon into small pieces and fry until crispy. Remove from pan to drain and reserve 1 tablespoon bacon fat in pan. 2. Sauté celery, onions and mushrooms with salt and pepper in bacon fat until soft. Cool slightly. 3. Add bacon and vegetables to meat, along with Worcestershire, egg, breadcrumbs, 1 cup cheese and 1/2 cup ketchup. 4. Mix well to combine. Shape into loaf in large pan. 5. Pour remaining ketchup on top and spread out over whole loaf. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. 6. Bake at 350°F for 1 hour or until cooked completely through. |
