I am always on the lookout for good yeast bread recipes. This is a good one. Ingredients:
2 cups warm water |
2/3 cup white sugar |
1 1/2 tablespoons active dry yeast |
1 1/2 teaspoons salt |
1/4 cup oil |
6 cups bread flour |
Directions:
1. In a large bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water, then add the yeast. 2. When yeast is proofed, mix in salt and oil. 3. Mix in flour one cup at a time. 4. Knead dough adding more flour if necessary. 5. Place in a well oiled bowl and turn dough to coat. 6. Cover with a damp cloth. 7. Allow to rise until doubled in bulk, about 1 hour. 8. Punch dough down. 9. Knead for a few minutes and divide in half. 10. Shape into loaves, and place into oiled pans. 11. Allow to rise until dough has risen 1 inch above the pans. 12. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 30 minutes. |
