I took this recipe from Screen doors and sweet tea. It is amazing in summer! it is important to use key lime juice and not regular lime juice. Ingredients:
4 cups fresh blackberries |
1 cup turbinado sugar |
1 tablespoon grated lime zest |
1 green cardamom pod, crushed |
1/2 cup fresh key lime juice |
2 cups ginger ale |
1 cup water |
Directions:
1. gather blackberries in a cheesecloth. bundle cloth like a hobo sack. squeeze sack into a pitcher, making about one cup of strong, dark, tart juice. 2. discard purple mash. 3. in a small saucepan, combine the sugar, 1 cup water, lime zest and cardamom pod. bring to a boil. 4. simmer over low heat for ten minutes. 5. remove cardamom pod. 6. allow syrup to cool and then chill it. 7. in a 1 quat pitcher, combine blackberry juice, sugar syrup and lime juice. 8. chill until cold. 9. just before serving, stir in the ginger ale. |
