Makes its own crust as it bakes. Again, this was grandmother's. Ingredients:
2 1/4 cups peeled sliced apples |
1 tablespoon lemon juice |
1/3 cup sugar |
1 tablespoon sugar |
1 cup self rising flour |
2 tablespoons self rising flour |
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon |
1 -2 tablespoon brown sugar |
1 egg |
2/3 cup shortening |
3/4 cup water |
Directions:
1. Combine 1 cup flour,1 tbsp sugar, egg, shortening, and water. 2. Beat 2 minutes at medium speed. 3. Pour batter into 9x1 1/4 inch pan. 4. Combine pie filling: apples, lemon juice,sugar, flour, and cinnamon. 5. Pour into center of batter. 6. DO NOT STIR! 7. Sprinkle with brown sugar. 8. Bake at 425°F for 35-40 minutes. 9. This pie will make its own crust. |
