This recipe was given to me by a friend, and when I fixed it my husband could not get enough of it. I have bumped up the heat on her original recipe, and haven't tried it at 400, yet. Her recipe said 350, but the apples and dough weren't done. Read more . You bake crescents and apples at a higher temperature, so I think the higher temperature is called for. I may find out it is just an increase in cooking time that is needed. If so, I will re-post. Ingredients:
4 granny smith apples |
2 cans of crescents or homemade dough |
1c. sugar |
1 1/4 c. butter |
1 tsp. vanilla or almond extract |
6 oz of sprite or sierra mist soda pop |
1/2 c. sugar/cinnamon mix |
Directions:
1. Pre-heat oven to 400F. 2. Rinse apples and cut into fours. Wrap apples inside of dough (think pigs in the blanket). Put in a baking pan about 1 inch apart. 3. In a saucepan, combine butter, vanilla or almond extract, and sugar. Cook until butter barely melts and sugar has dissolved. 4. Once melted, pour over Apple Dumpples and sprinkle sugar/cinnamon mixture over the top. 5. Pour soda pop in bottom of pan. 6. Bake approx. 30-35 min. or until Golden Brown. Let cool for 10-12 min. 7. Tips: Great w/ ice cream, coffees, or strawberries for added pizazz! |
