A popular party quickie - more flavorful when prepared the day ahead. Ingredients:
2 tablespoons olive oil |
1 lb ground beef |
1/2 cup chopped onion |
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper |
1/4 cup chopped celery |
1/4 cup ketchup |
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce |
1 tablespoon cider vinegar |
2 tablespoons brown sugar (more, if desired) |
1 1/2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce |
1 teaspoon salt |
1/8 teaspoon pepper |
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, more if desired (optional) |
Directions:
1. Brown ground beef in hot oil. Add onion, green pepper, and celery; cook until tender. Add remaining ingredients; mix well. Cover and simmer for 1 hour. 2. Serve on toasted buns. |
