Almond Glazed Cherry Chip Sugar Cookies |

A little sweet, a little tart and very savory! From the package of Eillien's Cherry Chips. Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups butter, softened |
3/4 cup sugar |
1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract |
3 cups all-purpose flour |
3/4 teaspoon baking powder |
3/8 teaspoon salt |
12 ounces eillien's cherry chips |
2 1/4 cups powdered sugar |
1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract |
6 -7 teaspoons water |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. 2. Combine butter, sugar and almond extract in a large mixer bowl. Beat at medium speed, until creamy. 3. Reduce speed to low; add all remaining ingredients and beat until well mixed. 4. Roll dough into 1 inch balls; place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet. 5. Flatten balls to 1/4 inch thickness with the bottom of a buttered glass dipped in sugar. 6. Bake for 7-9 minutes or until edges are very lightly browned. 7. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheets. Cool completely. 8. Stir together glaze ingredients with wire whisk, adding additional water if necessary to make a smooth and creamy glaze. Decorate cooled cookies with glaze. |
