Almond Encrusted Pound Cake

Almond Lovers, Attention! This cake is very special, very gourmet. Delicious dessert, and a cup of wonderful coffee completes the taste!
Ingredients:
thinly sliced almonds
1 stick unsalted butter
1/2 cup crisco
2 cups sugar
6 eggs
2 cups flour, sifted
2 teaspoons almond extract
glaze
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup warm water
2 *tablespoons* almond extract
Directions:
1. Generously grease large tube pan
2. PRESS almonds onto sides and bottom, set aside
3. In large bowl, using mixer, cream together butter, Crisco, and sugar
4. Add eggs, one at a time, continuing to beat
5. Gradually add flour and almond extract
6. Beat at high speed until batter is fluffy
7. Pour into prepared pan
8. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour
9. GLAZE
10. Boil sugar and water for 1 minute
11. Remove from heat
12. Add almond extract
13. Pour over *lukewarm* cake
14. Leave cake in pan unti it has cooled COMPLETELY
15. This is a wonderful cake!
