A tastey coffee cake Ingredients:
2 t. butter-divided |
2 c. flour divided |
1 c. water |
3 eggs |
1 t. almond extract |
frosting |
1 c. powdered sugar |
1-2 t. milk |
1 t. almond extract |
1 t. butter |
Directions:
1. Add 1 C. flour to 1 T.butter, blend with knives like making piecrust, add water until you can pat out two strips of dough on a cookie sheet. About a 1/4 thick and the length of the cookie sheet. 2. Put 1 T. butter into sauce pan, add water and bring to boil- remove from heat, add 1 C. flour, stir and blend, add 3 eggs and beat well after each egg -until all blended, shiny and greasey looking like cream puff dough. Add almond extract, stir and pour this onto dough on cookie sheet, spread out to cover all dough. 3. Bake at ~375 for 40-50 minutes. It should be brown, flakey and raised. Remove from oven, cool and frost. 4. Prepare frosting and frost the coffee cake when cool. 5. Sprinkle slivered almonds on top if you would like. |
