This is a tangy cheese spread that, with the addition of the almonds, looks like a real pinecone. Your guests will be impressed by your artistic abilities. It is really easy to do but takes a while to assemble. Ingredients:
8 oz spreadable cheddar |
8 oz cream cheese |
5 oz jar of roka blue (kraft) |
4 oz bleu cheese, crumbled |
1 pkg whole almonds, roasted and cooled |
Directions:
1. Mix all ingredients. 2. Form into a pinecone shape (sort of a triangle with rounded corners) 3. Place on serving dish and chill for several hours. 4. When ready to serve, beginning with the narrow end and continuing all around the base, press almonds (pointy side out) at a slight angle into cheese mixture. 5. Continue staggering and overlapping almonds until all the rows are completed and all the cheese is covered. 6. Insert an artificial sprig of pine needles at the top. If using a real spring, wrap stem with plastic wrap before inserting. 7. Serve with crackers. The number of servings will vary. |
