A great recipe for holiday gift giving Ingredients:
1 c. sugar |
1 c. unsalted butter, no substitutes |
2 tb water |
1 tb light corn syrup |
3/4 c. chopped toasted almonds |
1/2 c. chocolate chips |
Directions:
1. Buter a 9 x9 pan. Heat sugar, butter, water and corn syrup to boiling in a heavy 2 quart pan over medium heat, stirring constantly to 290 degrees on a candy thermometer. Remove from heat, stir in almonds. Spread evenly in the 9 x9 pan. Sprinkle with chocolate chips evenly over hot candy. Cover 1-2 minutes until chocolate is softened, then carefully spread over the candy. Sprinkle with additional almonds if desired. Let stand at room temperature until chocolate is firm (about 3 hours). Loosen from pan and break into pieces. Cover and refrigerate. |
