This is one of the first drinks I ever had! Really not much of a gin drinker, but this is the exception to the rule. Refreshing! This was originally developed by Ngiam Tong Boon for the Raffles Hotel in Singapore in the early 1900's. This is the version in my 'Drink Box.' Ingredients:
1 1/2 ounces gin |
2 1/2 ounces sweetened lemon juice |
1/2 ounce grenadine |
soda water |
1 ounce cherry brandy |
1 orange slice |
1 maraschino cherry |
Directions:
1. Combine first 3 ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. 2. Pour into a collins glass, and fill with soda water. 3. Float the cherry brandy on top of the drink by pouring it gently over the back of a bar spoon. 4. Garnish with fruit. |
