Probably from a gardening magazine, as it uses fresh tomatoes. Ingredients:
20 ripe tomatoes (medium-large) |
8 bay leaves |
2 heads garlic, separated into cloves and peeled |
2 -3 cups water |
salt and pepper |
Directions:
1. Quarter tomatoes and remove pith. 2. Place tomatoes, bay leaves, garlic, and water in crockpot and cook uncovered on lowest possible heat for 8 to 10 hours, stirring occasionally, till mixture is thick enough to coat a spoon, and begins to bubble. 3. Put mixture through a food mill or sieve. Add salt and pepper to taste. |
