Alexandra's French Toast and Homemade Syrup |

Warm homemade syrup and a tasty slice of french toast! Still working on a lower calorie version! Ingredients:
for the syrup |
10 tbsp light brown sugar |
1 1/2 cups water |
1 dash of cinnamon |
for the french toast |
1 slice whole-wheat bread |
1 egg |
1/2 cup skim milk |
1 cinnamon to taste |
1 dash of vanilla extract |
Directions:
1. In a pan, heat water and brown sugar until it bubbles. 2. While the syrup is heating, wisk 1 egg in a shallow bowl, then add milk. Add vanilla extract and cinnamon to your liking. 3. Once the syrup is heated, add a dash of cinnamon to it, and pour the liquid into a cup or small bowl. 4. Douse the wheat bread in the egg mixture by dipping it into the bowl, or pouring it on either side of the bread on a plate. 5. Cook the french toast to your liking. When it is finished, add the amount of syrup you like and voila! A homemade breakfast treat. |
