Takes a little while to prepare and cook but sooooo good. Ingredients:
4 slices bread (grilled or toasted) |
4 c. hash browns |
1/2 to 1 c. chopped onions |
4 slices american cheese |
4 eggs (optional) |
Directions:
1. First, toast the bread and lay it aside. 2. Then sprinkle the hashbrowns in four separate piles (one pile for each person) on the grill. 3. Sprinkle equal amounts of chopped onions over potatoes. 4. Salt and pepper. Lay a slice of cheese on top. 5. Do not cover. 6. Cook on hot grill until hashbrowns are brown on the bottom and cheese begins to melt. 7. Remove and place on top of toast. 8. Eggs are optional. 9. If you've got somebody in the family whose favorite saying is It's not breakfast without an egg this is what you do.... 10. Pre-grill the onions slightly and set aside. 11. Place the hashbrowns on the grill and spread thinly, with an indentation in the center. 12. Break egg into indentation and allow to start cooking. 13. As egg white begins to firm, and yolk begins to cook, sprinkle with salt, pepper. 14. Just before the egg looks done, sprinkle with onions, then place cheese on top and cover until cheese is melted. 15. Lay the whole works on top of toast. |
