This was one of the first recipes given to me many, many years ago when I was having problems making bread. It's a never fail recipe that has been around forever. It's a large quantity recipe so I quite often make bread and buns. Ingredients:
1/2 c warm water |
1 tsp sugar |
1 envelope yeast |
let stand 10 minutes. |
mix in bowl |
1/2 c sugar |
1/2 c lard |
1 tsp salt |
2 tbsp vinegar |
3 1/2 c warm water |
Directions:
1. Add yeast to mixture in bowl and 8-10 c flour. Knead for 10 minutes 2. Grease a large bowl, add dough, cover, and let stand in a warm place for 2 hours. 3. Knead down. Let rise 1 hour. 4. Form into balls, set wide apart on greased pan, cover, let rise 3 hours. 5. Bake 20-20 minutes. |
