Adai-a nutritious break fast item is made of rice, lentils, and other dried beans; with fresh ginger and red chillies, it is crispy and savoury. Ingredients:
3/4 cup rice |
1/2 cup lentil |
1/2 cup chickpeas, bengal gram |
1/2 cup black beans |
1/2 cup chopped onions |
6 pepper, red, dried |
2 tsp ginger root |
10 tsp oil |
1 salt to taste |
Directions:
1. soak the rice, lentils, bengal gram, black beans and red chillies for four hours. 2. wash thoroughly. 3. grind coarsely, adding about a cup of water. 4. add salt, onion and ginger root. 5. heat griddle. 6. pour a laddle of the batter, spread to make a round pancake. 7. add a teaspoon of oil around the outer edges of the adai and a few drops on the adai. 8. cook on slow flame for about 4 minutes, 9. flip and cook the second side till adai is done. 10. for crispier adais, cook longer, with a little extra oil. |
