I haven't had an A&W chili dog for years, but from what I can remember, this tastes just like it. This is listed as one serving, but the sauce makes enough for about 10 servings unless you use more on your dog like I do. The sauce can be frozen for future use. Ingredients:
1 frankfurter, 7 . 5-inches long |
1 hot dog bun |
1 tablespoon white onion, chopped |
1/2 tablespoon cheddar cheese, shredded |
1 lb ground chuck |
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste |
1 tablespoon sugar |
1 tablespoon yellow mustard |
1 tablespoon dried onion, minced |
2 teaspoons chili powder |
1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce |
1 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon celery seed |
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin |
1/4 teaspoon black pepper |
1 cup water |
Directions:
1. Cook the ground chuck in a pan and break into small pieces. 2. Season with salt and pepper. 3. Add in the remaining ingredients. 4. Simmer for about 30 minutes until thickened. 5. Boil some water in a pot, and add in however many frankfurters you want. 6. Boil for about 8 to 10 minutes. 7. Place the frankfurter in a hot dog bun and spread on 3 tablespoons of the. 8. sauce you just made. 9. Spread the cheddar cheese on top, and you're done! |
