I have never been a fan of that cranberry sauce in a can, so a few years ago, I started making it fresh. The difference was incredible! If you try either of these recipes, you won't go back to that lump of jelly. Ingredients:
recipe # 1 |
12 oz fresh cranberries |
1 cup white sugar |
1 cup orange |
over medium heat, dissolve the sugar in the orange juice |
stir in the cranberries and cook until the cranberries start to pop, about 10 minutes |
remove from heat and place in a bowl |
sauce will thicken as it cools |
recipe #2 |
12 oz fresh cranberries |
3/4 cup sugar |
1 teaspoon grated lemon zest |
1 cup water |
in a medium saucepan, combine all ingredients and bring to a boil |
reduce to a simmer and cook until cranberries are soft about 10 minutes |
transfer to a bowl and let cool |
