This recipe comes from a little book called ABC Jiffy Cookery. I've had it for over 50 years. I haven't tried any of the recipes yet. I'm putting them here so I can find them easier. Ingredients:
1 lb lean beef, ground |
1 lb pork, ground |
1 cup white breadcrumb |
milk |
3/4 teaspoon mixed herbs |
2 eggs |
salt and pepper |
1/4 cup butter |
1/2 cup cream |
Directions:
1. Mix beef and pork. Soak bread crumbs in a little milk. Mix the two together. Add herbs. Bind with the 2 eggs, well beaten and well seasoned with salt and pepper. Shape mixture into a loaf. Melt butter in a roasting pan and place loaf in it. 2. Bake in 350* oven for 50 minutes. About 10 minutes before done, add cream to juice around loaf. |
