This recipe came along in 1934.it was the year of the melba toast remember that and introduced as toast melba....the refrigerators had a new gimmick.they were now hermetically sealed.....hahahaha Ingredients:
2- eggs separated |
2- cups milk |
1/3- cup melted shortening |
2- cups flour |
3- teaspoons baking powder |
1- tablespoon sugar |
1/2- teaspoon salt |
2/3 -cup thinly sliced bananas |
Directions:
1. Beat the egg yolks until thickened........ then add the milk and melted shortening. 2. beat the egg whites until stiff and set aside 3. now sift the dry ingredients together, and add them to the yolk mixture..... 4. fold the beaten egg whites into this mixture; 5. gently stir in the bananas 6. pour batter into a hot wasffle iron 7. bake for 3 minutes 8. makes 5-6 depending on you waffle maker |
